コンパス・ベルト

電子コンパスとバイブレーションで、地磁気(というか方角)を体で感じることができるベルト。

開発したUniversity of Osnabrückの認知科学グループでは感覚を拡張して空間を感じることができるデバイスを装着しつづけた場合に脳がどのように対応するかといったことを研究しているらしいのですが、盲人むけやあるいは普通にGPSと組みあわせたナビゲーションへの応用に期待。視覚や聴覚ではない触覚インターフェイスは携帯のバイブ着信以外にもっと面白い・役に立つ使い方がでてきそう。

強いて違いをあげればActive BeltにはLEDが付いているところ？

I can't see any difference between this and the "ActiveBelt" system developed by Koji Tsukada.
