IBMの世界最速スパコン Blue Gene/L, 280テラフロップスを記録

2004年に日本の地球シミュレータを抜いてTOP500スーパーコンピュータの首位に立っていたIBMのBlue Gene/Lがノードを更に追加、自己レコードを抜いて280テラフロップスの性能を記録した。

6月の136.9テラフロップスから倍増、1年前の70.7テラフロップスからは実に四倍増している。地球シミュレータは約36テラフロップス。ただし、この数値はLINPACKベンチマークをすべてのノードで走らせた結果であって、半分がネットワーク処理に取られる現実の問題での処理能力をそのまま表してはいないとのこと。IBMに頼んで時間借りすることもできますが、御自宅に導入したければ1ラック1024プロセッサで200万ドル、約2億3000万円から。
