OpenGL Extractor：ポリゴンをスクリーンキャプチャ

画面をファイルに落とせるスクリーンキャプチャのように、実行中の3Dアプリケーションからポリゴンデータを「キャプチャ」できるWindows用ソフト "OGLE (OpenGL Extractor)"が登場。写真は人気のオンラインRPG World of Warcraftのプレーヤーキャラクタをデータに落として3Dプリンタでフィギュアに出力したところ。

3Dアプリケーションからグラフィックボードに送られる命令を横取りして一般的なフォーマットに再構成する仕組みで、OGLE自体はOpenGL32.dll用のDLLプロキシGLInterceptのプラグイン(DLL)。

Google Earthのポリゴン都市マップをキャプチャ、バーチャルワールドSecondLifeのキャラクターとリミックス。

開発はEyebeam R&D。まだβ段階で分かりやすいGUIもありませんが、ライセンスはGPLなのでもちろんソースもついてます。MMORPGの自分のキャラクターを3Dソフトに取り込んだり、立体化のためにディテールを調べるような用途に最適。

そのうちOSからグラフィックボードに送られる命令をキャプチャするソフトも著作権法違反幇助で取り締まりの対象になったり、「セキュア」なストリームでプロテクトされてしまうのではないかと思われます(音声や動画ではすでに始まっているように)。試してみたい人はお早めに。
