VWのGoogle Earthカーナビ

CESのGoogle基調講演でも紹介されていた「Google Earthナビ」。フォルクスワーゲンがGoogleとnVIDIAの協力のもと開発しているプロトタイプで、マップ表示はGoogle Earth的な衛星写真+ポリゴン地図。

建物が立体表示されるカーナビなら日本には昔からあるといえばあるのですが、デモを見る限りnVIDIAのちゃんとした(動作要件の高そうな)チップで贅沢な表示をしているのがうらやましいところです。製品化は未定とのことですが、Google本体と連携したアプリケーションに期待。ネットワークでリアルタイムに更新される周辺検索はもちろん、Googleナビが搭載された車をすべてリアルGoogleボットにしたりとか。
