24面マルチディスプレイでFPSゲーム

1280×1024のモニタを8×3の24台つなげたディスプレイ・ウォールでQuake IIIをプレイ。解像度は10240×3072。もちろん普通のビデオカードでは出力できないため表示には12台のLinuxクラスタを使用、複数台のマシンでのマルチヘッド表示をサポートするプロキシXサーバ Xdmx と分散OpenGLレンダリングシステムChromiumの組合せで実現しています。

ライフ数値やサージ(主人公)の顔面を500×500で表示して嬉しいかどうかはともかく、視界をほぼ完全に覆う高解像度ディスプレイで3Dゲームはそこそこ面白そうです。10240×3072でのフレームレートは15から30とのこと。
