マイクロソフトの"Auxiliary Display"(ノート用サブディスプレイ)デモ

マイクロソフトのギーク向け広報スコーブルさんがそういえばVistaの新機能だった"Auxiliary Display"のデモビデオを掲載。"Auxiliary Display"は要するに携帯のサブディスプレイのノートPC版のようなもので、いちいち開いて起動しなくてもスケジュールやメッセージの新着をチェックできるという触れ込み。上のAsus製プロトタイプではノートの背面右上に2インチディスプレイ、隣に5wayボタンがついてます。

ビデオは前半が開発者インタビュー、5分過ぎあたりからプロトタイプ実機をつかったデモあり。Windowsが起動した状態でメディアプレーヤのトラック情報を表示したり2インチディスプレイでライブラリをナビゲートするデモが見られますが、ノートPC型の巨大iPodを操作しているようでなんだかシュールです。

背面に小さなSPOT/Pocket PCを貼り付けただけといいますか、現に携帯やPPCでできていることを不便に再現しているだけのように見えなくもありませんが、VistaのAPIに組み込まれてPC本体<->(小さなプロセッサとフラッシュメモリ付き)サブディスプレイ間通信の標準規格ができればそれはまた面白い展開がありそうです。
