Spidernaut：NASAの宇宙蜘蛛ロボット

NASAが船外活動ロボットにクモ型を採用という話は聞いていましたが、実際に見てみるとやりすぎなくらいクモクモしてました。アラクニド級EVR(Extra-Vehicular Robotics)のベースモデルとなる "Spidernaut"は宇宙プラットフォームの組み立てやメンテナンスを想定したもので、太陽電池パネルのような脆い構造のうえを傷つけずに移動できるとのこと。さらに八本の脚だけではなく「テザー」を展開して伝って歩くことも可能(になると本当に書いてある)。

追いかけられたくないランキングで初登場一位を狙えそうな外観ですが、動画を見てみると今のところはなんとか逃げられそうです（動画その2）。
