Xbox 360は2007年にCPUアップグレード予定

マイクロソフトと、Xbox 360のCPUを製造するChartered Semiconductorの共同発表によると、Xbox 360は2007年にも新CPUにアップグレードされるとのこと。

新CPUといってもパフォーマンスが変わるわけではなく、現行の90nmプロセスから65nmプロセスでの製造になって消費電力や発熱を低減するもの。これでインタークーラーなしでも(おそらく)ちゃんと冷えるようになります。

日本では華々しく芳しくないXbox 360ですが、ちゃんと冷えて静かになって性能を発揮したソフトが出揃い、Xbox Liveで過去の名作ゲームやオリジナルゲーム、映像コンテンツが提供されるようになり、さらにはHD DVDも観られるようになって大幅値下げ、ならば結構ちゃんと戦えるんじゃないでしょうか。
