張力構造体コーヒーテーブル

銅パイプとワイヤで「テンセグリティ」構造のコーヒーテーブルを自作するチュートリアル。テンセグリティとはtension + integrityの造語で、堅い圧縮材(柱)をワイヤの張力で支えてバランスを取る構造のこと。レトロフューチャーな未来建築物でよく見かけるあれです。

Read先では材料集めから組立まで、パイプにワイヤを固定する部分以外はそれほど難しい手順もなく解説されています。

こちらは元祖テンセグリティなKenneth Snelson作品 "Needle Tower II"。柱で支える構造に慣れた目で見ると今にも崩れそうですが高さ30メートル。アルマジロ・ランで構造物を支える力に目覚めたかたには面白いかもしれません。
