ACCESS、Palm OSを「Garnet OS」に改名

プレスリリースによると、ACCESSはPalm OSの名称を「Garnet OS」に変更、"Palm Powered"ロゴは新しい「ACCESS Powered」で置き換えられるとのこと。

ACCESSが保有するPalmSource (現ACCESS Systems Americas, Inc)の商標を本家Palmに売却したことによるもので、かつては「次世代Palm OS」と呼ばれていたALP (ACCESS Linux Platform)に続き現行Palm OSからも"Palm"の文字が消えることになりました。PalmからWindows Mobile採用のTreoが登場するなどPalm製品=Palm OSハンドヘルドではなくなってしばらく経つものの、古くからのPalm / Treoユーザにとってはなかなか感慨深いニュースです。
