巻き取り式ディスプレイ搭載モバイル"Cellular-Book"製品化

フィリップスからスピンオフしたPolymer Visionより、折り曲げられるディスプレイを採用したモバイル端末"Cellular-Book"が登場、製品化が決定しました。"Cellular-Book"と名付けられた端末は引き出すと5インチになる16階調グレイスケールディスプレイを搭載、畳めば「一般的な携帯電話より小型」。またEDGE / UMTS / DVB-H (モバイル放送) といったデータ通信機能を持ち、電子本のほかRSSフィード、電子メールや地域地図といったコンテンツのダウンロードに対応。本体には4GBのストレージがあり、音楽やPodcastも再生できます。

セルラーブックは来週スペインで開かれる3GSMに出展された後、テレコム・イタリアを通じてまずはイタリア国内で販売される予定。詳細な仕様や価格、その他の地域での展開などについては3GSMで公開されしだいお届けします。

これはなかなか興味深いガジェットになりそうですね。
カード型デジカメの様に、モバイルの一つの基本モデルになりそうなアイデアだ。
