全世界でのハード販売台数では2006年7月現在でXbox360 1100万台Playstation 3 550万台Wii 580万台と数量ベースでは圧倒しています。Xbox360は国内の出荷台数が少ないと言われていますが、同じく売れていないソニー製PS3との差は微差だったりします。(それは単にPS3が売れてないだけとも取れますが...)国内では「売れている」と思われているWiiですら200万台程度で決して追いつけない数字ではないのです。Wii 200万台PS3 58万台Xbox360 40万台しかしPS2の台数と言いますか、家庭に占める据え置きメインゲーム機の座は、まだまだ分からない状況です。
