初代PSPのSkype非対応はメモリの制約

正式発表されたSkype for PSPは新型のPSP-2000でしか使えないとされていましたが、その理由が判明しました。SCEEのNick Sharples氏によれば、重い方のPSP-1000でもSkype対応を検討したものの、メインメモリの制約から断念したとのこと。新PSPは旧型の32MBに対して2倍の64MBメモリを搭載しており、従来のゲームを走らせる際はUMDのキャッシュとして利用しています。おなじく新PSP専用とされるワンセグアダプタは多少の小細工で旧PSPでも動かすことができましたが、性能の問題であれば今回はさすがに難しいようです。
