空飛ぶクラゲロボ Festo AirJelly

CGではなく実物の写真です。AirJellyはドイツFesto AG製のくらげ型リモコン気球。八本の触手を異様に滑らかに動かしつつ、直径1.35mのバルーンに詰まったヘリウムの浮力でふわふわと浮遊します。動画は続きのあと。

水中のクラゲの動きを応用した生物模倣ロボとして開発されたもので、気球の底にあるモーターとクランクで触手 / ヒレを動かし蠕動運動で前進、気球の天頂から垂れている振り子で重心を制御して進行方向を変化させます。Festoによれば気球のこうした推進方式は史上初。

スローモーションのような動きで静かに空中を泳ぐ巨大クラゲはなかなかに不気味クールですが、やはりヘリウムバルーンなので重量はわずか1.3kg。頭上から音もなく降りてきたこれにUFOキャッチャー状態で連れて行かれる心配は今のところありません。
