勝手にMac互換機のPsystar、ラックマウントサーバOpenServを発表

アップル非公認のMac OS Xデスクトップ機 Open Computerを販売しているPsystarが、今度はXeon搭載のラックマウントサーバOpenServを発表しました。仕様は1UサイズのOpenServ 1100がシングルまたはデュアルXeon (Harpertown)プロセッサ、最大16GBメモリ、4ドライブベイ、デュアルギガビットイーサネット、500W PSU。2UサイズのOpenServ 2400は6ドライブベイに600W PSU、ロープロファイルの拡張カード対応。

OSはMac OS X 10.5 Leopard デスクトップまたはサーバのほか、LinuxのCentOSまたはUbuntu Server 、あるいはWindows Server 2003 / 2008の各エディションが用意されます。CentOS搭載の最小構成価格はOpenServ 1100が$1599.99、2400が$1999.99より。OS Xを載せるとプラス$525 (10クライアント) またはプラス $1025 (無制限)。完成品をすぐ買える「Hackintosh」としての意義を主張できるデスクトップ版はともかく、会社としての立場がいまだに微妙なPsystarをサーバに導入するのはなかなか勇気が必要です。
