Windows Home Server Power Pack 1提供開始、データ破損バグ修正

日本では(でも)あまり話を聞かない家庭用サーバOS Windows Home Server (WHS)のアップデートパッケージPower Pack 1が約一か月のベータを経てRTMを迎えました。現在は英語版がダウンロードセンターから落とせるようになっています。

WHSといえばWindows PC (およびXbox 360)との親和性とママにも簡単なUIで「家族の 1 人 1 人が持っている写真、ビデオ、音楽の保存と共有を簡素化する新しいツールです」と謳いつつ、VistaフォトギャラリーやWindows Media Player 11を含むMS純正ソフトやPhotoshop Elements、iTunes、ACDSeeなど多数のアプリケーションでデータが破損するバグを抱えていたことで知られていますが、今回のPP1にはこのバグへの修正が含まれています。

そのほかの強化点はVista x64のサポート、ホームサーバ共有フォルダのバックアップ、リモートアクセスの改善、消費電力の低下・効率化と全般的なパフォーマンス向上など。日本語版の提供は8月予定。
