Either Campbell (as you said, good choice there) or Christopher Lee would have been more purely related to horror and more recognizable as a horror mainstay/icon. The Academy overlooked some fine past Cushing and Lee (and Price) performances years ago.
the text of the intro to the "horror film tribute" overlooked silence of the lambs. who messed up on this? the exorcist wasn't the last oscar-lauded horror film. if producers made films like the many older horror pics in the montage, more awards would be forthcoming. avoid the teen audience, do something mature and intelligent WITHOUT cgi cartoons FX and teens.

ever heard of something called rebooting? and "command prompt" is part of windows nt and up, in linux it is called command line or terminal.
