PSN Thursday: Qore and some free LBP garbs {Joystiq}

Nov 10th 2008 5:42PM How do you download the LBP costumes?

BlizzCon 2008: Starcraft II gameplay panel notes {Joystiq}

Oct 11th 2008 1:01AM I really only ever play the campaign mode. I'm into the story and I've never much enjoyed multiplayer. I wouldn't call the campaign mode nonsense.

As for having to buy 3 different games, I think that sucks! I really enjoyed playing each race, but I'm not going to pay $180 to buy 3 $59 games just to be able to play each race in solo mode.

TGS 2008: PS3の新周辺機器は「ワイヤレスキーパッド」「ACアダプター」 {Engadget Japanese}

Oct 10th 2008 3:05PM I've found a way around having to leave my PS3 on to charge my controllers. I have a dock that charges 2 controllers at once, and instead of plugging it in to my PS3, I plug it into my Comcast DVR since it has a USB port on the front & since it's always on (for recording purposes). Thus, both of my controllers are always fully charged! =)

Joystiq Interview: GRiN's Simon Viklund on rearming Bionic Commando {Joystiq}

Sep 8th 2008 1:01PM Has anyone beaten this game yet? I'm on the last level (Albatross), I can get through the first 3 rooms easily, but when I get outside on the part with the flipping platforms, I find it to be the most difficult platform challenge I've ever faced! I've died over 50 times trying to ascend through that part! Anyone have any tips?

PS Store video service not coming to Europe 'this year' {Joystiq Playstation}

Jul 18th 2008 9:24AM I'm so pissed at Sony right now! I downloaded Beowulf in HD on their new video service the first night it came out. I let it que up for about 15 minutes, then started watching. Unfortunately, it only got about 10-15 mins into the movie before it stopped & began buffering. It was basically unwatchable then. I left my PS3 on and I went to bed. When I came home from work the next day & tried to watch it, I found my PS3 had turned off for some reason! I turned it back on & resumed download, but it was only at 29%. By the time the download finished my 24 hours was up and I wasn't allowed to watch it!!!!!
I called Sony customer service and they refused to let me re-download it or even to credit my $5.99! That is freakin crazy! I paid for a movie that I never was allowed to watch!! All the rep kept saying is "sir, it does say you only have 24 hours to watch the movie once you begin playback". Yeah, fine, but it should also freakin say that HD movies shouldn't be started until they are completely downloaded! Sony customer service should also have the ability to fix problems like this and credit a customer's account when there is a problem or the customer is upset about something. Which is gonna cost Sony more: $5.99 or the loss of revenue from me posting about this every place I can find?
Really disappointed in you on this Sony. This was my first experience with your customer service and I'm left with nothing but the impression that you're really dropping the ball! Thanks for ruining my night last night

PS3 Fanboy review: Burnout Paradise {Joystiq Playstation}

Jan 28th 2008 4:37PM Picked it up last night & played for 2.5 hours. For those of you who played the demo, be aware that the real thing is much better! The demo was so limited (only like 1 race I think?) that it was discouraging. In the real thing, there are events everywhere. I do find it disappointing that there is no retry option, especially when you come in second and you really wanna give it another go quickly. I also agree that no split-screen sucks because I was looking forward to finally having a widescreen, high-def TV to play split-screen Burnout on. The other thing that sucks is how slow it changes cars in the junkyard...you have to wait for each car to drop so you can't just fly through all your cars to pick the best one.

As jaded as I was in the first 20 minutes of gameplay, however, I did learn to overcome these limitations and love the game. After 2.5 hours I found myself repeating that familiar Burnout mantra "this game is freakin awesome"! Exploring the city is a ton of fun, as is finding the "super jumps" and all the cool little hidden routes & surprises. The first time I accidentally ended up on the railroad tracks I couldn't wipe the smile off my face!

So my final recommendation is to give it a try for at least 2-3 hours, and don't base your decision on the crappy demo. It does have its limitatons compared to previous versions, but when you look at it by itself (not comparing it), it is quite a fantastic game!

Today in Joystiq: December 18, 2007 {Joystiq}

Dec 19th 2007 2:36PM I just printed a paper version of the companion cube, but here's a question for you: anyone know of any CAD drawings of the cube? I happen to have access to a 3D printer, and I'd love to print me out my very own weighted companion cube! It'd be a lot easier than doin all that origami to end up with a flimsy, crappy lookin cube.

Dell's Latitude XT and XPS ONE make first public appearance {Engadget}

Nov 15th 2007 10:00AM I'm the MIS director for a manufacturing company in Medford NJ. When I first started here about 9 years ago we bought computers from many different manufacturers (eMachines, M2, HP, Compaq, IBM, & more). I was never really happy with any of them as they all had many quirks and problems. About 5 years ago I tried buying Dell computers. Well, 50 Dell computers later the only problem I've EVER had with a Dell was a single blown power supply.

I'm in an excellent position to know first-hand how good Dell's computers stack up to the competition, and I would never buy anything other than a Dell! I know this sounds like a friggin sales pitch, but they've made a believer out of me. Before I switched to them a HUGE part of my job was fixing computers every single day. Now that we're a mostly-Dell shop, fixing computers is just a distant memory.

So I realize the term "fanboy" is pretty negative, but in my case I guess I am. For good reason though!

Now Dell printers on the other hand, they suck balls. At least their low-end printers anyway. I think they're re-branded Lexmarks or something.
