OCZ が 2.5型 SATA接続 SSD の新シリーズ OCTANE を発表しました。2.5インチで世界初の1TBをラインナップする大容量に加え、3月に買収した Indilinx の新コントローラ Everest により、最大シーケンシャルリード 560MB/s・ライト400MB/s、4Kランダムライト 45000 IOPS の速度を誇ります。アクセス速度は業界最速をうたうリード 0.06ms・ライト0.09ms。

またIndilinx の独自ページマッピングアルゴリズムにより、従来品が不得手だった混合ファイルサイズ・圧縮レベルの転送を改善し、いわゆるSSD向きのアプリだけではない実世界ワークロードでの高い性能を実現したとしています。さらに独自の " NDurance " テクノロジーにより、従来品の「2倍近く」の耐久性を備え、信頼性と経年劣化の少なさもアピールしています。

In addition to being the world's first SSD to achieve up to a 1TB capacity in a compact 2.5 inch format, OCZ's Octane SSD series combines high-speed data transfer rates with record-breaking access times to provide a superior user experience and improved application performance.

In particular, the Octane's proprietary page mapping algorithms allow for steady mixed-workload performance, mirroring real world conditions across a wide range of applications. The Octane series also includes a number of advanced features unique to Indilinx, including innovative latency reduction technology, enabling both read and write access times as low as 0.06ms and 0.09ms respectively, the lowest of any commercially available SSD. This enhances application responsiveness and enables features such as "fast boot" in consumer applications.

Octane SSDs also come equipped with Indilinx's proprietary NDurance™ technology, increasing the lifespan of the NAND flash memory, ensuring the most consistent and reliable performance as well as minimizing performance degradation even after the drive's storage capacity is highly utilized.
