During the Mega Battle Challenge event week from Friday, September 11, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. to Thursday, September 17, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. local time, all Trainers can earn an Upgrade and a Sinnoh Stone by completing the event’s Timed Research.

If you're a previous player, you may have a surplus of evolutionary items to throw away, but even if you don't happen to have them or have only recently started, and even if you don't pay for them, you'll still be able to evolve to at least four Porygon-Zs in the time challenge.
In the original Pokémon, you can evolve Porygon into Porygon-Z in exchange for the Dubious Disc. Porygon-Z, with its eerie movement and bullseye, has terrible explanations in the Pokédex, such as "the Pokémon begin showing highly erratic, unstable behavior and twitchy movements", "As a result, it is believed the experiment to creating Porygon-Z was a failure", "This has been attributed to the incompetence of the engineer who faultily updated its programming", "Some academics debate whether Porygon-Z is really an evolution or not from Porygon2."
