FromSoftware has released an update for the ninja-killing action game SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE with additional features.
New features include "Reflections of Strength" which allows you to re-match the boss, "Remnants" which allows you to record your movements over a period of time and share them with other players, and the ability to change Wolf’s outfits which changes the skin of the main character.
In the boss mode, "Gauntlets of Strength", you can challenge a series of battles against a set combination of bosses under certain conditions. New bosses and bosses with different attack styles that weren't present in the main game also appear here.
The updated version of the title is 1.05, which is the same for all PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms.
“Remnants” is a feature that allows you to record your movements for a certain amount of time and share them with other players.
Remnants left by other players are displayed as landmarks on the ground, and you can get close enough to see titles and messages. When you choose to playback, a translucent ninja appears and replays your movements, like a so-called replay ghost.
Because it only records your movements even when you are fighting enemies, rather than video, you can use it more as a reference for maneuvering in difficult areas or to notice branches if you are attacking, rather than as an instruction for bosses.
You can also leave messages, so you can share mysterious movements and a word, even if it doesn't make any particular strategic sense. If SEKIRO had an Emote, there would be nothing but remnants of wolves dancing around in various places by now.
The "Gauntlets of Strength" is the boss mode. It can be accessed through any Sculptor’s Idol, and you can re-match against any previously defeated boss. Even if you die or use up all the items you've consumed, it doesn't affect the normal mode, so you can test your fighting style without worrying about it. Your techniques and ninja gear will be the ones you set, but your attack power will be a fixed value for boss mode.
From the second round onwards, players will be able to fight a series of bosses on a specific theme in the "Gauntlets of Strength" mode. For players who have already completed the game, this content will provide a new challenge.
Sculptor’s Idols will also offer the ability to change Wolf’s outfits. While there are only three outfits available, one of these outfits is unlocked just by beating the game once. The rest are extremely difficult and are unlocked via the "Gauntlets" mode mentioned above. It's a "show" factor that is only allowed for a select number of fierce competitors.
Along with the addition of new elements, the GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION, which includes an update and a reduced price, is now available. The downloadable version of the game will switch to the GOTY edition, and a special edition package with a guidebook has been on sale for PS4 since the 29th. The price is 4,800 yen excluding tax.
