Sony has revealed the PlayStation 5's design at video events and elsewhere, and its dimensions have been specified in the press release, but it's still hard to get a feel for its size.

That's why Taiwan's National Communications and Broadcasting Commission (NCC) has released photos of the actual device that show the dimensions, and it's visually clear that the PS5 will be one of the largest consoles ever.

In the photo, the PS5 is shown horizontally, along with the included cables and a removable stand that can hold the unit in both vertical and horizontal positions, along with a ruler. The approximately 39cm x 26cm x 10.4cm volume shown here (for the standard version) is larger than Microsoft's Xbox Series X (30.1cm x 15.1cm x 15.1cm) and even the original PS3 (32.5cm x 27.4cm x 9.8cm), which was considered too large at launch.

How much space will the PS5 actually take up in your living room? Character designer Kei Sawada has released an image modeling the size of the PS5 when placed alongside the PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X.

The pre-order stock has already sold out on Amazon within minutes of its opening, and lottery pre-orders at various mass merchants have been multiplied tremendously, but it looks like you should think about "do I have a place for a PS5 in my living room?" now, too.
