iRobotが戦闘用ロボットをデモ

お掃除ロボットRoombaで知られる家庭用ロボットメーカーiRobotが、米ワシントンで開かれたトレードショーにて多数の軍用ロボットを展示しています。

公開されたのは各種のセンサーや通信機器を載せて偵察や爆発物処理といった用途に使われる汎用プラットフォームPackBotのほか、直接戦闘(といっても威力偵察)を想定した大型ロボットiRobot Warriorなど。写真は12ゲージの自動装填ショットガンx2を搭載したモデル。

さらに大型化されたモデルがこの人に指揮される様子が目に浮かぶようです。東大大学院石川並木研究室の研究する「人間-ロボット共存のための衝突回避」に最後の希望を託したいと思います。
