インテル、「クラスメートPC」の試作機

インテルの途上国向け教育用PC、というよりOLPC XOキラーといったほうが分かりやすい「クラスメートPC」の詳細な写真が出てきました。9月の発表では、クラスメートPCはクロック不明のCeleron M、7インチ800x480液晶、HDDの代わりに1GB NANDフラッシュメモリにリチウムイオン電池を搭載したノート。OSは組み込みXPのほかLinuxも想定。

ThinkPad T60と並べると子供向けサイズがよく分かります。今回の情報によるとメインのストレージが1GB NANDフラッシュメモリであることは変わらないものの、SDRAMは「必要に応じて数GB」を搭載(可能)。価格は以前のサブ$400発言からさらに下がって「$300以下」。当初は100ドルより150ドルに近い値段でスタートするOLPCを殺す気満々です。
