OLPC XOの次世代機はインテル採用？

OLPC News経由Intel World Aheadプログラムによると、インテルはOLPC XOの次世代モデル候補となるシステムボードデザインを開発中とのこと。OLPCプロジェクトの(目標) 100ドルノートPC 「XO」はAMDのGeodeを搭載していますが、後継機はインテル製プロセッサに、たとえばMID向けのモバイルプラットフォームを採用する可能性がでてきました。

またインテルのFAQによれば、OLPCはすでにインテルのXeonプロセッサを使ったXO向けサーバ製品を計画しているとのこと。一方、これまで「インテルのOLPCキラー」と呼ばれていたクラスメートPCは今後も開発を続け、インテルとOLPCとの協力からフィードバックを得てさらに進化するとしています。AMD入りの初代XOは寄付込み一台$350～$525くらいで年内にも一般向け販売を計画中。
