LHC、今度は鳥が落としたパンのかけらで故障

不具合情報には事欠かない LHC ですが、今度はパンのかけらによる故障が見付かりました。LHC の Sector 81 と呼ばれる部分 (上図参照) は通常 1.9K (摂氏マイナス271.25度) に保たれていますが、現地時間2日の夜に 8K にまで上昇。調査の結果、加速器の回路の一部に、鳥が落としたと見られるパンのかけらが発見されたとのこと。復旧後の現在、Sector 81 の温度は通常に戻っている模様。

そろそろ LHC の Duke Nukem Forever 化が洒落にならない状況になりつつありますが、これも宇宙のご意志というものでしょうか。
